Why Natural Rubber (Natural latex) Mattress?
Our goal has always been to seek out the most natural and chemical free products to enhance our customer’s sleep experience. With this in mind our natural rubber used in our Soma Certified Organic Mattress Collection is derived from some of the finest grade of Natural Rubber grown in Malaysian plantations with no herbicides used due to sheep who graze nearby to control growth on each plantation. Our natural rubber contains an anti-bacterial substance which is naturally anti dust mite due to the absorbency and moisture regulation similar in the properties of our organic cotton and wool products as.
Natural Manufacturing Methods Only
The latex sap/milk is manufactured by tapping the rubber tree otherwise known as Hevea Brasiliensis. Our latex sap is then taken to a location near the plantations to be made into natural rubber sheets by the afternoon to avoid destabilization of the milk after sitting for too long. This procedure ensures the purity of the product by baking the sap or latex milk into cores within 12 hours and avoids the use of chemicals and synthetic materials used in many production methods in Europe and North America. Finally our injection system only uses air, natural soap, and natural vulcanization agents to ensure Soma Organic Mattresses’ customers are sleeping on the highest quality organic bed possible. This pure substance then biodegrades naturally after a long lifespan lasting more than 20 years.
The Certification
Our certification for our natural rubber comes from Eco Institut of Germany. One of the most respected independent accredited testing facilities to ensure that the latex cores are free of chemical out-gassings and emissions. With this certification our customers can rest assure that a Soma Organic Mattress product has been tested for purity and authenticity.

Each one of Soma’s natural rubber cores are individually covered in an organic muslin which is like a very thin organic cotton sock which protects the product while allowing breathability at the same time.
