Why Natural Rubber (Natural latex) Mattress?
Our goal has always been to seek out the most natural and chemical free products to enhance our customer’s sleep experience. With this in mind our natural rubber used in our Soma Certified Organic Mattress Collection is derived from some of the finest grade of Natural Rubber grown in Malaysian plantations with no herbicides used due to sheep who graze nearby to control growth on each plantation. Our natural rubber contains an anti-bacterial substance which is naturally anti dust mite due to the absorbency and moisture regulation similar in the properties of our organic cotton and wool products as.
Natural Manufacturing Methods Only
The latex sap/milk is manufactured by tapping the rubber tree otherwise known as Hevea Brasiliensis. Our latex sap is then taken to a location near the plantations to be made into natural rubber sheets by the afternoon to avoid destabilization of the milk after sitting for too long. This procedure ensures the purity of the product by baking the sap or latex milk into cores within 12 hours and avoids the use of chemicals and synthetic materials used in many production methods in Europe and North America. Finally our injection system only uses air, natural soap, and natural vulcanization agents to ensure Soma Organic Mattresses’ customers are sleeping on the highest quality organic bed possible. This pure substance then biodegrades naturally after a long lifespan lasting more than 20 years.
The Certification
Our certification for our natural rubber comes from Eco Institut of Germany. One of the most respected independent accredited testing facilities to ensure that the latex cores are free of chemical out-gassings and emissions. With this certification our customers can rest assure that a Soma Organic Mattress product has been tested for purity and authenticity.
The Soma Advantage
Each one of Soma’s natural rubber cores are individually covered in an organic muslin which is like a very thin organic cotton sock which protects the product while allowing breathability at the same time. This extra care provided to each core from Soma Organic Mattresses (www.somasleep.ca) ensures quality control that will add to the life span of each Soma mattress preventing gradual wear and tear. Other manufacturers that do not individually cover their cores will cause the natural latex to dry which will eventually affect the normal 20-25 year lifespan of the product. The correct pillow is just as essential in achieving a complete restful night’s sleep along with a healthy supportive mattress. The right pillow can relieve your aches and pains by providing proper support for the spine and neck. From a physical support standpoint you want your pillow to elevate your head, neck, and shoulders. This type of support along with the proper mattress can keep the body in proper alignment. Subjectively you should always find your pillow comfortable the minute you lie on it. There’s always a fine balance of comfort and support when picking the right one to buy.
The Different Sleeping Positions
Back Sleepers
When sleeping on your back you should have adequate support for your shoulders, head, and neck. The pillow should support the natural curvature of the cervical spine. A low contour/cervical pillow is often recommended for this particular sleeping position.
Side Sleepers
This among the most common of the 3 sleeping positions and allows and allows for a greater variety of options when choosing pillows. There are many options like shredded latex, solid latex, wool pillows, orthopedic, contour, etc…
It’s important for the pillow to keep the spine in a straight horizontal line while supporting the head and neck. Weight should be evenly distributed to avoid the spine being out of alignment which will help relieve any pressure points.
Stomach Sleepers
The stomach position is considered one the worst positions due in large part to the spine often being out of alignment. To avoid this problem it is recommended you sleep with a very flat pillow then place another similar or the same pillow under the stomach to straighten the spine and keep its natural alignment.
The best pillow recommended for this sleep position would be a flat latex no higher than 2-3.5 inches at most.
Always remember that a pillow is a personal choice and choosing the right pillow for each individual should be a carefully thought out process much like buying a house or a car. So it’s always important to remember comfort and support without the two together you will never find the right pillow for you!

Magniflex’s Lavender Comfort Mattress provides the sleep and health benefits of lavender while providing excellent pressure relief for those who are unable to sleep on a rigid surface with a customizable option of medium or soft density on either side.
Using nanotechnology, millions of micro capsules of lavender are infused into the ticking. Upon contact with the skin, some of the micro capsules break, releasing the pleasing natural aroma of lavender to encourage relaxation for mind and body.
The internal layer of the mattress follows the natural curve of the human spine giving an extra anatomical characteristic to the mattress. Here’s how the layers of the Lavender Comfort breakdown:

Soma Sleep And Wellness proudly presents the Allegra Sleep system from Green Sleep which is composed of a traditional Bonnell coil spring and surrounded by pure layers of natural rubber. The mattress provides a firm supports to keep your body anatomically aligned.
The Allegra has a 100% organic cotton velor covering with a 14 gauge Bonnel coil system padded with 3″ of soft natural rubber and 750g of organic wool per square meter. Each mattress is hand laced for durability and comfort with re-enforced extra firm coco latex edges. This is a one sided mattress with no need to rotate or flip.
The Allegra mattress is suggested to be used with Green Sleep’s all slat S100 foundation although you can use your existing box spring if need be.
